Sword & Sworcery is overall a good game. It offers a fun, unique adventure that most gamers might find appealing, and although it seemed odd at times, I am mostly satisfied with this game.
- Story -
The setting of this game is a hilly, forestry region during (what seems to be) older times. Your first objective is to find the "Megatome," but once you claim it, you unleash an evil that drives you away. Ill have to restart the game to further understand it, but it becomes your next objective to reassemble the "Trigon Trifecta," which is a source of heavenly power that (from what I got) could be used to destroy the evil you unleashed when you claimed the "Megatome." To reassemble the "Trigon Trifecta," you will have to release Sylvian* Sprites using the Song of Sworcery. Once youve released enough Sprites, a miracle will occur. The miracle will be a boss fight of sorts that will result in the obtention of one of the three parts of the Trifecta.
Overall, I, myself, think that the story is very unique and imaginative, and it offers neat adventure; therefore, I am very satisfied with it.
- Problems with the Story -
Ive noticed many similarities to the storyline of some Zelda games Ive played in this game. The objective of Zelda: The Windwaker, like Sword and Sworcery, is to reassemble a triangular figure that holds a somewhat heavenly power. This games story isnt fully unique, but that is the only unsatisfactory factor I found with it.
- Gameplay -
Playing the game is relatively simple.
- To move, you tap and hold an area other than your character, or you can also quickly double-tap an area to make your character move toward it.
- To fight, you turn your device vertically from landscape mode.
- To open the "Megatome," which holds thoughts collected from other characters in the game that might be useful at times, pull down your drop-down inventory, select the tome, and turn your device to a vertical position.
- To sing the "Song of Sworcery," tap and hold your character until a big bubble forums around your character and shakes the screen.
- Problems with Gameplay -
The only problem Ive had with gameplay is when using the Song of Sworcery, it can be difficult to select the areas that you want to select on the screen. For example, at the five waterfalls, I had no trouble selecting the first point, but even though the piano sound played on the second point youre supposed to select, it wouldnt let me select it and made me start over again. Basically, there are problems with the Song of Sworcery when it involves selecting areas that have a corresponding piano note sound.
- Extra Notes and TL;DR -
- Neat graphics
- Fun, adventure-type story
- Satisfactory gameplay
- I wouldnt say that the game is worth the $4.99 because of how short it is. Im nobody to price another persons application, but I would say it would be more worth $2.99-$3.99.
